Where does my skill content actually live?
Every skill, version, and audit record lives in SkillValit's managed PostgreSQL database, served over a TLS-encrypted connection. Skill bodies are plain markdown, and you can pull any skill back out at any time with the CLI or the per-skill and per-set download endpoints. Nothing is trapped in a proprietary format. Data is stored with our cloud hosting provider and may be processed in a region other than where you are based; per-region data residency selection is not available today.
Can I self-host SkillValit?
Not today. SkillValit is a hosted service right now, and self-hosting is not available. If running it inside your own infrastructure is a hard requirement, tell us your needs through the contact page.
Are you SOC 2 certified?
No. SkillValit is early-stage and does not hold a SOC 2 report today. We would rather say that plainly than imply a certification we do not have. If a formal compliance review is a blocker for your rollout, reach out through the contact page and we will tell you exactly where we stand.
Who can see and change a skill?
Access is governed per workspace with viewer, editor, and owner roles. Reads are scoped to workspace members; every write is permission-checked and recorded in an audit log, so you always have a record of who changed what and when.
Does the CLI upload my local files when I install a skill?
No. The CLI authenticates with a workspace-scoped API key and pulls the skill you asked for into your local agent config (Claude, Codex, Gemini, or agents.md). It reads from the registry down to your machine; it does not upload your local files or code back to SkillValit.
What happens to my skills if I stop using SkillValit?
They are yours. Export any skill or skill set as markdown through the CLI or the download endpoints before you go. Deleted content is soft-deleted first, so it can be restored if the deletion was a mistake, then aged out. There is no lock-in on the content itself.
